The Brookhaven Little Theater Summer Theater Camp is for students entering 1st through 7th grade. The purpose of the camp is to provide children with new experiences of being on stage and being a part of a team (the cast). The children who attend learn the basic skills, rules, and techniques of being an actor. Each child who is attending camp will be placed in a role and work through two weeks to learn their part. The students learn what it takes to become their character and perform the last Thursday and Friday they perform the play to family and friends.
When the students arrive to camp on the first day they will be placed with a counselor group. These groups are made up of kids similar in age and with two or more counselors leading them. They will wear name tags daily to ensure everyone is accounted for and known by name. In the mornings, everyone gathers on the stage for invigorating warm-up exercises to get everyone loose and ready to have an awesome day! After warm-ups, the groups will break out into rotations consisting of crafts, games, and stage time. In crafts they will make and create a piece of art daily based on the play we are working on as a camp. In games they will let loose for a while and play exciting games that are fun for all. In stage time they will be on the stage learning important tools to help them become the best actor they can be.
Each year Drama Camp promises to be a positive experience for students. We hope that your student will join us, and in the process learn more about themselves, other people, and make lifelong memories.
