Who can audition?

Auditions for Hadestown Teen Edition are open to anyone ages 13-19. You must be at least 13 years of age by the video submission deadline on Saturday, November 8, 2025!

How do I audition?

Your audition will be a video upload using the Audition Sign Up link below.  You will video yourself singing a song selection of your choice. Songs can be sung with an accompaniment track or you may provide your own accompanist. Please do not sing a cappella. Song selections need to be about 1-2 minutes. Usually a verse and chorus are sufficient. If you are having someone video you using a cellphone, please make sure they are holding the phone in landscape view (sideways).

PLEASE START YOUR RECORDING BY FIRST STATING YOUR NAME, AGE, and SONG TITLE. Then sing your song.

What else will I be asked to provide?

  • You will be asked to upload a current headshot photo.

  • You will be asked to upload a resume that lists your performance experience and any performance education or training. Need help writing a resume? Refer to this article for helpful tips.

  • You will be asked to provide basic information about yourself on the form.

What is a callback audition?

In-person callback auditions will take place on Sunday, November 16. Exact times will be communicated when callback invitations go out.

Callbacks are for the audition panel/directing team to see an actor in a more specific audition setting. Some actors will be called back to audition for specific characters. THIS DOES NOT GUARANTEE THEY WILL BE CAST AS THAT CHARACTER! Callbacks do not guarantee that an actor is cast in any role, nor does not receiving a callback mean they will not be cast in the show. No casting decisions are final until the full cast is decided and announced after all auditions have been held. Final casting offers will be emailed on Tuesday, November 18, 2025.

What roles are available in this show?

The following list is a general cast overview.

Orpheus: The son of a Muse, Orpheus was abandoned as a child and raised by Hermes. A romantic poet and musician who is working on a masterpiece to bring back spring. Orpheus is kind and naive, and while he means well, he has a tendency to fixate on his music above all else. Vocal Range: D3 - C5,

Eurydice: A practical girl who lives a hard life, Eurydice knows how to survive and is reluctant to open herself to others. Always roaming, she finds herself falling for Orpheus in spite of herself. Vocal Range: F#3 - D5

Hades: The King of the Underworld, and Persephone's husband. Rich and powerful, he rules over the industrial dystopia of Hadestown, forcing his workers to build a never-ending wall to keep trespassers out and his workers in. Fearful of losing Persephone's love, all of Hades' efforts are to cage her and make her stay with him.

Vocal Range: F2 - C#4

Persephone: The Goddess of Spring, an outdoorsy girl married to Hades. She relishes the six months she's allowed to be aboveground and gets increasingly annoyed when her husband comes to bring her home early, since it's putting the seasons out of joint and the workers of Hadestown are suffering.

Vocal Range: F3 - C5

Hermes: The Messenger of the Gods and the play's narrator. He raised Orpheus after he was abandoned by his mother, and conducts the train ferrying souls to Hadestown.

Vocal Range: C3 - B4, Tenor/Bass

Fates: Three divine sisters who decide the fate of each individual. The Fates sing in the back of everyone's minds, pushing the story to where it needs to go while commenting on the characters' choices.

Vocal Range: E3 - D5 (Fate 1, up to Eb5) Soprano, Mezzo-Soprano, Alto

Workers: The citizens and workers of Hadestown, who start out as bar patrons up top. They were lured to Hadestown with the false promise of prosperous jobs and security, only to find themselves in low-paying menial labor building Hades' never-ending wall.

Vocal Range: Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Bass
